Every beginning is tough, and this is especially true for the first steps in the world of freestyle. But when sunrays warm your face, nicely shaped obstacles surround you and many happy shredqueens are on-site, then, all of a sudden, it doesn’t feel so tough anymore, but insanely motivating. These ain’t empty phrases – again proven by the Girls Shred Session in Alta Badia. A truly perfect freestyle day full of women power went down at the heart of the Dolomites on March 2, 2019.
The fourth stop of the Girls Shred Sessions was the only one in Bella Italia at the same time. The Snowpark Alta Badia couldn’t have been shaped better for this special occasion. Right in the morning, numerous participants caught sight of a nice snowpark. During the first ride on the Ciampai chairlift, the girls were able to see the creative setup and couldn’t resist the astonishing view of the sunlit Dolomites. “No matter where you look, the peaks of the Dolomites are just impressive” says Sina Fuchs, one of the two lucky sweepstake winners and special guest at the Girls Shred Session. “We haven’t been in Alta Badia yet and we’re extremely happy that we are here now and that we are able to shred together with other motivated girls in this scenery”.
The other participants also shared this impression. After a brief warm-up at the chill area, the shred girls received an introduction about freestyle techniques by the coaches Carolina Maziero and Steffi Reicht at the easy line’s beginner boxes. The dancefloor butterbox was the ideal place to practice first frontside and backside board slides. The coaches watched carefully and were happy to help with tips and adjustments. After the first jibbing action was in the books, the shredqueens moved on to the little jumps showing some first grabs!
Time went by quickly and suddenly it was noon which was the call for a well-deserved lunch break. The girls got cozy on the deckchairs of the park’s chill area and filled up their energy levels. Special menu of the day was: Pizza in the park! The delivery occurred promptly. The friendly shape crew brought the delicious meals straight to the park! Surely, the girls were enjoying their lunch and prepared for the progression session in the afternoon.
Not only the girls’ bodies, but also their motivation levels were experiencing a proper boost after the break. It was time to hit the tubes, jumps and wallrides of the Medium Line and at the park’s top section. Coach Carolina was at least as stoked about the girls’ progression as the ladies themselves: “The girls are awesome, they learn fast, aren’t afraid of challenges and push each other. It’s wonderful to see so many motivated girls in the park and the Snowpark Alta Badia is seriously ideal for such a freestyle coaching session! I hope we will see more things like this in Italy in the future”, Carolina sums up. The freshly learned tricks and the memories of this beautiful day were already a nice reward after this eventful day. Yet, there was more to come. The girls could take home fine goodies from NIKITA, Protect our Winters, QParks and Golden Ride.
